A new diversity lounge opened up at the beginning of this semester in the lower Findlay Student Center. Now the lounge is being used by students and organizations as a place to meet, hang out, study or just kill time in between classes.
Before, the space was where ping pong tables were set up. However, some renovations were made over winter break to create a new spot for a diversity lounge. The room is now fully furnished with a TV, couches, tables and more.
Lawrence Anderson, coordinator of diversity support services on campus, said the diversity lounge is mostly being used by student groups right now, but it is open for the Drury community.
“During the school day, it’s open for all students to use, so it doesn’t matter what student organization you may be a part of,” Anderson said. “This is a space that is supposed to be open and inclusive for the Drury community. Then in the evening, that’s when groups tend to reserve it for space.”
